We are a treatment center that provides for teens with identity issues, addictions, behavioral issues, emotional issues, and family issues. Liahona Academy gives teens a caring, safe and structured environment that is dedicated to helping them make changes and choices for themselves.

It is important for adolescents to establish social or relational identity, friends and peers are part of shaping the identity of an adolescent. Peers and friends can have a positive or negative impact on shaping identity of adolescents. It is important for parents to know the difference.

Peers and friends that share similar values and goals or provide safe environment will have a positive impact on your adolescent. However, peers and friends that are of a troubled teen clique are more likely to effect adolescents negatively with drug or substance use, behavioral issues, or poor school performance.

Impact of Negative Peer Groups

Adolescents with a negative peer group impacting or shaping their identity should remove themselves from that group of peers or should be removed from it. Parents that notice poor peer relationships in their adolescent should seek help immediately.

Liahona Academy supports and encourages each adolescent to better themselves with the life skills they learn at the facility. Our staff at Liahona Academy is dedicated and cares about the success and recovery of adolescents in their lives.

Teens that may have a negative peer group may need help from a residential treatment center to find positive ways of interacting with friends and peers along with finding an identity that has a positive affect.
