Boot Camp For Boys

When troubled teen boys are in need of long-term residential treatment but parents need to do something right now to get the teen the help they need, boot camps for boys can provide a safe and structured place for boys to start getting help while long-term plans are being finalized. Especially when the teen boy may be a danger to himself or others, boot camps are excellent short-term teen help programs that can guide the teens in their first steps toward recovery.

What is Boot Camp?

Boot camps are short-term programs designed to remove kids from their current negative environments and place them under strict supervision of trained adults. These therapeutic boot camps are instrumental in getting troubled teen boys to recognize the consequences of their actions and see what kind of path their bad behavior is leading them down. At boot camps, teen boys can regain control of their lives as they respond to discipline, physical challenges and mentor relationships. The structure and discipline they receive at boot camp will help them to better assimilate into a long-term residential program like a boarding school.

Who Can Attend Boot Camps?

Boot camps for boys are designed to take boys who are struggling with emotional, behavioral and mental health issues and give them professional help. A doctor or psychiatrist should diagnose the teenage boy's condition and then evaluate the boot camp to ensure that the program is compatible with treatment for that condition. Teen boys struggle with a number of issues, such as aggression, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, substance abuse, learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, ODD, abuse trauma, bipolar and more. Depending on the recommendation from a professional, most boot camps are perfect for teens who need to transition from a negative home environment to a long-term facility.

What is Boot Camp Like?

Boot camps for troubled teen boys are similar to wilderness camps and other outdoor high adventure camps with a therapeutic component. They get the teen boys away from home, work and school and into a supportive environment that focuses on their problems and how to overcome them. Individual and group therapy Boot camps are big on physical activity and many offer high adventure activities like hiking, ropes courses, rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking and more. Teen boys also participate in group and individual therapy as well. Sometimes, camping and survival skills are included in boot camps for teens. Most boot camps last for a short time, from a few weeks to a few months. The boot camps are an excellent transition to long-term facilities like residential treatment centers and therapeutic boarding schools. Parents who worry about their troubled teen sons will have peace of mind knowing that they are safe and learning new skills at a teen boot camp. As they tackle new challenges in a healthy way, troubled teen boys can regain the successful future they once thought was lost.
